Get There Greener 2025

Go Coast’s Get There Greener challenge is an annual event that encourages WMPO Area residents to move sustainably during the month of October! Traffic congestion is a major cause of air pollution and much of our stress. We challenge you to use an SOV (single-occupancy vehicle) as little as possible and instead utilize alternative transportation like biking, walking, carpool, transit, and telecommuting. Participants can win prizes like gift cards to local businesses.

As part of this year’s challenge, Go Coast is also hosting the second annual Fall Bike to Work Day on Friday, October 17!

Thank you to our 2025 sponsors: Bluewater Waterfront Grill, Boombalatti’s, Cameron Art Museum, Capt’n Bill’s, Carolina Ale House, Fleet Feet, Flytrap Brewing, Oceanic Restaurant, Two Wheeler Dealer, and Wrightsville Beach Brewery. There are over $1,200 worth of challenge prizes to give away that these local businesses have donated!

How to Participate

1. Sign up to participate anytime throughout October – submit your email on this interest form, and we’ll email you when the challenge starts and send weekly reminders throughout the challenge to track your trips.

2. Report your sustainable miles on the tracking form. Track each time you use sustainable transportation in place of driving alone to get around between October 1 and 31. Report after each trip, weekly, or at the end of the challenge, it’s up to you. Participants can track every time they use the following transportation modes:

  • Carpooling
  • Public transportation
  • Bicycling
  • Walking
  • Telecommuting

If you’re new to alternative transportation and need help taking a trip by bike or bus, check out our personalized commuter plan form where we will give you customized step-by-step directions on what to do.

3. Have fun and good luck winning those sweet prizes! 🙂
